Cowboy Gelato and Cody Anderson
Amarillo, Texas

As we stepped into Cowboy Gelato we saw the Wall of Shame. Photos line the wall of the "shameful" people who ate nine scoops of gelato in under five minutes. But compared to the latest challenge, according to owner, Cody Anderson, there is no comparison. Cody has concocted a blend of cayenne, ghost, habanero, and Trinidad scorpion peppers with a bit of blood orange and other flavoring, to create his Four Horseman Gelato. The challenge is to eat four scoops in five minutes and, if completed successfully, you'll have your name added to the Ring of Fire Wall. We all tasted this fiery ice cream, but opted instead for some of the milder items on the menu.

In addition to operating his family business, Cody is a musician who was, at one time, a member of a band named Palo Duro, named for the nearby picturesque canyon known as the "Grand Canyon of Texas." He is oftentimes called upon to share his talents in both cuisine and music with locals and visitors during Amarillo Route 66 festivals.
